Monday 11/17/08

Today was pretty uneventful, I don't want to sound negative but nothing much happened.
My meals where great, my workout was decent( my knee made a funny noise) but I did not take my glucose levels, I guess I'm afraid of that measly lancet, I'll do it tomorrow.
As promised here are my starting statistics:
Weight 189 lbs
Body fat 10.9%

I'm not proud of this but that's why I'm doing this, right? I need to be in the single digits within the next 15 days, I know all I need to do is stick to the plan and avoid any crazy outings like this past weekend.

My meals are mainly consisting of eggs in the morning, fruit and almonds, lunch is usually a salad with either chicken or beef, dinner is pretty much the same and my snacks are peanut butter, apple and some protein. I'm not taking any supplements except for Fish oil and vitamins.
I have to work on my brain a little more, pshycologically I'm screwed up! I'm already thinking about the holidays and all the wonderful and sinful foods, yumm yumm!
I must stay in the game, I MUST!!

THE WEEKEND

SATURDAY

Everything started out great, at the gym we had a fun day, the workout was awesome, my times are getting better and my performance has increased.
I added a lot more broccoli to my meals to avoid getting some of the cravings I get on the weekends, temptation was high but not for food, tonight there 's a UFC fight and Randy Couture was fighting which meant we are going to drink! Oh yeah baby!.

The evening started out pretty smooth, I had a few glasses of (glutten free) wine, but then Ben showed up with a bottle of tequila and I had a few shots, then came more wine, glutten free beer, more tequila.BAD IDEA!!

Next thing I know I'm DONE, wasted, drunk and stupid, Oh God! I haven't gotten this drunk since my teenage years! I guess we now know what this means: If I know beer and beer knows me, the maybe I shouldn't be hanging out with Mr tequila and lovely Lady Wine all in the same night.

Well, I definitely learned a lesson here, I'm staying the hell away from booze, I'm sure my performance and everything I'm working for has gone down the Sh@#$er(sorry!).

SUNDAY

I'm paying dearly with 65% interest for what I did last night, my meals are all in check but obviously a feel like crap and I'm having all sorts of cravings, from whataburger to fudge Brownies and milk, but I'm staying strong.

The rest of my day turned out to be great, I had a great fun day with my kids, we watched movies, went to the park and played some games, I loved it!

Well, I'm ready for next week. All my meals are pre-cooked and ready and I'm eager ed to start my week, it's going to be a good week, I know this! thing should be getting easier and I should be in cruise control mode.

Cheers!!

Day Four and Five

Oh God! What have a gotten myself into? Nah, just kidding; this is actually pretty cool(except for the beer part) I feel GREAT!

Although I have been a little conservative with my workouts my recovery has been quick and painless, the idea this week is to get over the viral crap I got going and help my body transition well with these changes.

Thursday I took the day off from training and ate all my meals as prescribed, but I felt hungry. I think I'm going to double my fats to see if this controls it , if not, then I'll double my Broccoli(gas fest) intake.

Friday.

I feel rested and ready for battle! My meals are perfect and adding that extra fat has seemed to have fixed my problem, my energy level is high and my workout was good. I still am being conservative with it till I feel that it's really out of my system.
Today for our workout we did: 400 m run
15 overhead squats(95#)
5 Rounds.

Next week I'll be keeping track of blood sugar levels( like a diabetic) to measure the impact certain foods have on our bodies, I'll be posting it here along with my starting weight and bodyfat %.

Ciao baby!

Day four 11/12/08

Oh man! I NEED A BEER!!! are you kidding me? beer is full of gluten? that makes for a very tough challenge!! My weekends consist of not a few, but lots of them, yikes!.

That's OK, I can do this; whats a few months without it? NOTHING!

Enough of this nonsense, today I did great but I felt weak and tired all day, I guess I am sick after all?

Who cares!! this gluten free, dairy free, organic grass feed, pesticide free, hormone free, and more, feels great! I'm not bloated anymore, my energy levels(even though I'm sick) are high, and I can really see how this approach to a healthier way of life can really help anyone.

Today I took Karla grocery shopping and we completely changed the way and what we are feeding our kids; I must make mention of something, yes it might pricier, yes its hard to find and yes we are cheap, but the bottom line is; this country works on the law of supply and demand, so here's a simple way of changing (or getting rid of)the common obstacles when buying healthy and great quality food; BUY MORE!!!!!

Let's not be cheap and go for those things that we deserve, your family and our planet will thank you for it.

Thanks for reading my crap.

Day three 11/11/08

VETERAN'S DAY!!
First I'd like to thank everyone who helped at the fundraising event, we exceeded our goal and it showed that people do care. Thank you

My day was rough! the first part of it I spent in bed with a fever and a gigantic cold sore on my lip, Frak! I hate those suckers!.

My first meal was a t 2:00 pm but of good quality foods, I didn't intend on doing the Trainers W.O.D. but David was able to convince me (since Michael Jordan played a game with 103 degree fever)and ended up doing 8 rounds of "NATE" as Rx'd which wasn't that bad;
after the event we all went to jaxon's for dinner and I enjoyed 3 glasses of glutten free, paleo approved, zone approved wine(yeah baby!) GOOD TIMES!

Day Two 11/11/08

It already started with a few bumps on the road but nothing big. It seems that my immune system is out of whack! good thing is that yesterday I went and did my grocery shopping with the aid of Kim.
My break down will be 17 blocks following a base Zone diet for the next 2 weeks, with the exception that all my foods will be grass feed, free range, organic, hormone free, gluten free foods; in addition to that a few other modifications will be made to it, I will use a more Paleo approach when choosing what foods to eat.

I have already taken my Body composition (which sucked!) but hey! isn't this the whole reason for doing this?
I'm almost 37 years old and my goal is to greatly improve my performance , lower my BF% to 5% and be able to outperform at least some of those 20 year old that have incredible W.O.D. times.
Here it goes!!

Day One 11/10/08

After this weekend Crossfit Nutrition Cert in Flagstaff Az. I'm pumped and ready to start this thing, there's a lot of cool stuff that we learned and tons of changes to be made, so the purpose of this blog will be to document the process from start to finish, not only to give you an idea of what one goes through physically, emotionally, but to prove that when followed, the structure does work.
Tomorrow I will be posting the starting statistics and a detailed explanation of how this will work.
till then.
